FAH Releases Statement on E&C Health Subcommittee Markup

Washington, D.C. (June 25, 2026) – The Federation of American Hospitals released the below statement following the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee markup examining health care price transparency:

“Patients deserve accurate, real-time information about their coverage and costs before care is delivered, which is why hospitals have invested in tools that help patients understand their expected costs and make informed decisions about their care.

“Duplicative and impractical hospital reporting requirements will not help patients better understand what they actually owe after receiving care. We are encouraged that the Subcommittee recognizes that patients’ out-of-pocket costs are often shaped by insurers’ benefit designs, coverage decisions, and network structures. We look forward to continuing to work together to ensure transparency efforts deliver meaningful information for patients and that accountability extends across the health care system, including health plans.”
