FAH Advocates for Children’s Mental Health in Letter to Congress

Today, FAH and other health care stakeholder groups sent a letter to the Senate co-sponsors of  the Investing in Kids’ Mental Health Now Act expressing support for the bill and thanking them for introducing the legislation.

“In order to stem the national emergency in child and adolescent mental health, we must ensure children can get the care they need and that requires direct, targeted investment in pediatric mental health services,” opens the letter.

“As champions of children’s mental health, you know that the crisis they currently face did not just begin with the pandemic… The impact of the adversities children faced as a result of the pandemic, including social isolation, family strain and grief, have taken a toll on children’s mental health,” continues the letter.

The letter firmly advocates for pediatric mental health and substance use disorder treatment service expansion; the Investing in Kids’ Mental Health Now Act would strengthen such care.

The letter was signed by (need number) health care organizations and child advocacy groups.
