“This issue is not going away” – FAH Calls on Congress to Extend Health Care Tax Credits in New Year

Washington, D.C. (December 17, 2025) – The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) issued the following statement, urging Congress to act swiftly in the New Year to extend health care tax credits as families nationwide face skyrocketing premiums starting January 1:

“Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are leaving town without addressing the number one issue for families in every community across the country: skyrocketing health care premiums come January 1st. It shouldn’t be this way – but make no mistake – this issue is not going away. In the New Year, thanks to pragmatic lawmakers listening to their constituents’ concerns, the House will return and vote to extend the tax credits. Lawmakers in both chambers who want to address rising premium costs must support an extension and give hardworking families immediate relief. Americans simply cannot afford inaction.” – Charlene MacDonald, FAH Executive Vice President, Public Affairs
