FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn issued the following statement after the Senate passed a continuing resolution to avert a government shutdown: 

“The bipartisan legislation passed by Congress not only keeps the government open – it also protects access to care for millions by postponing Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) cuts. This vital provision ensures hospitals can continue to be there to treat the most vulnerable.  

“As discussions on a long-term funding agreement continue in the coming weeks, we stand ready to work with lawmakers to preserve access to hospital care – particularly in rural and underserved communities.”
