FAH Statement Following the State of the Union Address

Washington, D.C. (February 24, 2026) – FAH released the following statement from President and CEO Charlene MacDonald after President Trump delivered the State of the Union address:

“Across the country, American families continue to feel financial pressure, and we agree with the President’s call to lower the cost of health care for Americans. It starts with demanding transparency from big insurers and addressing the rising out-of-pocket costs making it harder and harder for working families to make ends meet.

“Our hospitals serve every patient who walks through their doors, and they have made significant investments to provide patients with upfront, consumer-friendly price shopping tools that empower them to make the best choices for their health needs. Big insurers have made a business out of delaying payments, denying coverage, and refusing to invest in patient care as they continuously increase patients’ deductibles, premiums, and copays. Hospitals are doing their part for patients—now it’s time for insurers to do the same.”
