“Congress has the solution in the palm of their hands: extend the tax credits” — FAH Statement Ahead of Senate Finance Committee Hearing

Washington, D.C. (November 19, 2025) – The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) released the following statement ahead of the Senate Finance Committee hearing on health care affordability, underscoring that the solution to Americans’ health coverage affordability crisis is for Congress to quickly extend the health care tax credits before they expire at the end of the year.

“Right now, over twenty million hardworking Americans are grappling with the fact that they will not be able to afford their health coverage in the new year, and Congress has the only viable solution in the palm of their hands — extend the health care tax credits.

“We can extend the tax credits now and continue the conversation about how to lower out-of-pocket costs, but we should not hold hostage access to affordable health coverage in the meantime.

Now is the time for pragmatic lawmakers focused on lowering costs for their constituents to come together and craft a deal where everybody wins.” – Charlene MacDonald, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs, FAH
