Federation of American Hospitals Names Paul Eiting Vice President, Policy

Eiting – a veteran of the insurance industry – joins FAH from BCBSA and will specialize in coverage issues

The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) today announced that Paul Eiting has joined the organization as Vice President, Policy, where he will help lead FAH’s advocacy on critical health coverage and payment issues affecting hospitals and the patients they serve.

Eiting brings more than two decades of health policy experience spanning Capitol Hill and the health insurance industry. He joins FAH from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, where he served as Managing Director of Legislative and Regulatory Policy and supported the Association’s work on employer-sponsored insurance, Medicare, prescription drug policy, health care affordability, and value-based care initiatives.

“Paul has spent his career navigating some of the most consequential health coverage debates in Washington,” said Charlene MacDonald, President and CEO of the Federation of American Hospitals. “We are pleased to have his expertise on managed care at a time when the decisions being made about coverage have significant implications for patients and hospitals alike. His leadership will strengthen FAH’s ability to advance policies that help patients access and afford the coverage they rely on, while ensuring hospitals can continue to provide high-quality care in communities across the country.”

As Vice President, Policy, Eiting will lead the Federation’s work on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace and Medicare Advantage coverage, as well as broader commercial payment policy. He will work closely with FAH member hospitals, policymakers, and stakeholders to advance policies that strengthen coverage and support access to care.

Prior to joining the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Eiting served as Policy Director in the Federal Affairs Department at America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), where he served as a lead policy analyst during the 2009-2010 health care reform debate and ACA implementation efforts. Earlier in his career, he served in the office of former Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI), supporting legislative and policy research.
