FAH Statement on Ways & Means Committee Legislative Markup

Washington, D.C. (July 15, 2026) – Charlene MacDonald, President and CEO of the Federation of American Hospitals (FAH), released the following statement following the House Ways and Means Committee legislative markup addressing health care access and insurer transparency:

“Taxpaying hospitals are committed to transparency and have made significant investments to help patients understand their out-of-pocket costs, but meaningful transparency requires health plans to provide accurate, real-time information before care is delivered. The Ways and Means Committee took important steps to increase transparency and accountability in Medicare Advantage, measures that will shed light on insurer practices that drive up patient costs and shape their health care experience, while also advancing reforms to strengthen access to rural and post-acute care. Together, these steps can help build a health care system that works better for patients in communities across the country.”
