Today, the Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) sent a letter to Capitol Hill leadership outlining tax-paying hospitals’ policy priorities to consider as the 118th Congress comes to a close and members prepare for the year ahead.
FAH Executive Vice President of Public Affairs Charlene MacDonald released the following statement:
“We appreciate Congress’ commitment to bipartisan solutions that prioritize the needs of the American people, and we look forward to working with you during the sprint to the finish line in the remaining weeks of 2024 and beyond. Addressing these critical policy proposals will help provide long-term stability to hospitals across America to ensure we can continue to fulfill our mission of providing patients with access to the quality care they need 24/7/365.”
The priorities outlined in the letter include:
- Extending the Medicare-Dependent Hospital (MDH) and Low-Volume Hospital (LVH) Adjustment Payment Programs to Support Rural Hospitals
- Delaying the Implementation of Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) Cuts
- Rejecting Site Neutral Cuts to Medicare
- Supporting Taxpaying Hospitals in the Wake of Natural Disasters
- Extending Enhanced Premium Tax Credits
- Reining in Abuses of Prior Authorization in Medicare Advantage Plans
