Modern Healthcare’s recently released “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives” list includes three leaders from FAH member companies: Dr. Elissa Charbonneau of Encompass Health, Sammie Mosier of HCA Healthcare, and Dr. Saum Sutaria of Tenet Healthcare.
The 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives list seeks to highlight leaders who continue to adapt, innovate, and create patient-centered solutions while navigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic; FAH members honored on the list exemplify this commitment.
Dr. Elissa Charbonneau is the Chief Medical Officer at Encompass Health, overseeing medical operations at the company’s 149 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals; 55 are joint ventures, 252 home health, and 99 hospice locations. Her strategy emphasizes the implementation of data analysis refinement to target better quality of care. Dr. Charbonneau additionally serves as a member of FAH’s Quality Committee.
Sammie Mosier, DHA acts as Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive at HCA Healthcare, leading a nurse workforce of 93,000, maintaining a commitment to advocacy and leadership, staffing support, education, and professional practice. With this framework, Mosier recruits and retains nurses amid growing workforces shortages and rising costs. She will also oversee the expansion of the system’s Galen College of Nursing, expected to scale up from five campuses to fifteen by the end of the year.
Dr. Saum Sutaria serves as the CEO of Tenet Healthcare, maintaining responsibility for the system’s three lines of business, which include 60 hospitals, about 550 outpatient centers, and revenue-cycle services. Dr. Sutaria demonstrates leadership throughout his career, previously serving as Tenet’s president and chief operating officer, overseeing hospital operations and outpatient facilities along with its surgery center and revenue-cycle subsidiaries.
