Today, 24 million Americans are enrolled in coverage purchased on the individual market, and almost all of them benefit from the health care tax credit. But unless Congress acts now, the health care tax credit that has made this coverage affordable for working families will expire. If Congress allows this to happen, health premiums will double, and millions will lose their coverage completely. The addition of millions of uninsured Americans will add to the financial burden facing hospitals, threatening our ability to provide services, even as hospitals continue to treat every patient who walks through the door.
“No more posturing, no more politics – it is time for pragmatic lawmakers to come together, focus on lowering costs for their constituents, and extend the health care tax credits.
“A bipartisan extension of the tax credits is the only mechanism to immediately cut costs for hardworking families already struggling to make ends meet. The solution to this cost-of-living crisis is simple and urgent: Congress must extend the tax credits now.”
