“It doesn’t have to be this way, but time is of the essence” – FAH Statement Ahead of Open Enrollment

Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2025) – Tomorrow – November 1 – marks Open Enrollment on the individual market, during which millions of Americans will be able to purchase health coverage for the next year. Due to Congressional inaction and failure on extending the health care tax credits, families needing to purchase coverage will see sky-high prices that are on average more than double the price of last year.  Today, the Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) released the following statement marking Open Enrollment, highlighting what’s at stake for American families, and calling on Congress to extend the tax credits.

“Tomorrow, Americans in communities across the country will be in complete sticker shock as they go to purchase health coverage their families rely on. Meanwhile, Congress enjoys their affordable health coverage while they do nothing to address the affordability crisis facing American families. It doesn’t have to be this way, but time is of the essence. Congress must act now, protect the health and security of their constituents, and extend the health care tax credits.” – Charlene MacDonald, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs, FAH
