May will lead an experienced team of health care experts, including new Senior Vice President Alyssa Keefe, in protecting patient access to hospital care
The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) announced today that Don May has been promoted to Executive Vice President and will lead FAH’s policy team, effective January 1, 2025. May, who has served as FAH’s Senior Vice President for Policy since 2020, takes over from Steve Speil, who is retiring after 27 years of service with FAH.
FAH also welcomes Alyssa Keefe, starting December 16, as Senior Vice President of Policy, who will oversee entitlement programs, including Medicare and Medicaid, and congratulates Tilithia McBride on her promotion to Senior Vice President of Policy, with a portfolio covering quality, patient safety and public health.
“FAH’s reputation for expert policy research and analysis is in good hands with Don May at the helm. Don’s experience and tireless efforts on behalf of patients, hospitals, and our members will ensure continued success in advocating for patient access to 24/7 care,” said Chip Kahn, FAH President and CEO. “The extensive health care experience and knowledge that Alyssa brings to FAH will be critical as we navigate health policy in a new Administration and a new Congress.”
Don May has distinguished himself for over 20 years as a well-known and respected advocate for patient care. In his current role, Don leads the development of policy, legislation, and research initiatives on Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, managed care and quality.
Alyssa Keefe joins FAH from CommonSpirit Health, where she served as System Senior Vice President for Public Policy and Advocacy since 2020. Prior to that, Keefe served at the California Hospital Association, American Hospital Association, and the Catholic Health Association of the United States in policy, regulatory analysis, and advocacy roles.
