WASHINGTON – FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn released the following statement after Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021:
“President Biden has focused like a laser on enacting his COVID-19 relief package; now it is a reality. The American Rescue Plan is a substantive step towards all Americans having the security of health care coverage. It makes ACA health coverage more affordable, ensures that the newly unemployed can retain their insurance through COBRA and offers new incentives for states to expand Medicaid to low-income adults.
“The bill’s $8.5 billion allocation for rural providers will protect and support care for many of the nation’s most vulnerable patients, especially those who live in rural, underserved communities. Meanwhile, funding for vaccine distribution and testing included in the legislation takes direct aim at COVID-19’s grip on the nation.
“We cannot and will not forget the heroism of frontline caregivers during this unprecedented crisis. We will continue to be strong advocates with Congress and the Biden administration to assure the health care resources Americans need are there when they need it, now and in the future.”
