WASHINGTON – FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn released the following statement after President Biden announced Chiquita Brooks-LaSure as his nominee for Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS):

“There is no better person to lead CMS during this pivotal time than Chiquita Brooks-LaSure.

“With more than two decades of experience in health policy, she will bring to the Administrator’s role a keen understanding of what it will take to lead our nation’s health care system out of the COVID crisis and beyond.

“Her past roles at CMS, HHS and on Capitol Hill make her uniquely qualified to step in and have an immediate impact. Brooks-LaSure was one of the architects of the Affordable Care Act and is an expert on the Medicaid program – she understands how important attainable health coverage is to keep people healthy.
