FAH Awards Inaugural “Chip Kahn Congressional Health Leadership Award” to Exemplary Congressional Health Staffers in Honor of Retiring CEO

Marielle Kress, Senate Finance Committee & Alex Fink, Office of Congressman Juan Ciscomani honored at FAH’s Annual Board of Governors Meeting

Washington, D.C (October 15, 2025) – The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) awarded Marielle Kress with the Senate Finance Committee and Alex Fink with the Office of Congressman Juan Ciscomani the inaugural Chip Kahn Congressional Health Leadership Award at this year’s Board of Governors Meeting. The award – named after FAH’s President and CEO of nearly 25 years, Chip Kahn – recognizes two Congressional staffers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in health care policy and a commitment to preserving patient access to care.

“Dedicated and diligent staff members are the unsung heroes of Capitol Hill. For nearly 25 years, FAH has been expertly run by a legendary former Congressional aide, Chip Kahn, who has brought the same energy, commitment, and determination that makes a good staffer and focused it on leading the Federation’s mission to protect 24/7 patient care. It is only fitting we present the inaugural Chip Kahn Congressional Health Leadership Award as we honor Marielle Kress and Alex Fink for their exemplary work,” said Charlene MacDonald, FAH Executive Vice President, Public Affairs.

Prior to his time at the Federation, Chip Kahn served on Capitol Hill for 12 years, serving as a health aide to Senators Dan Quayle and David Durenberger, as health counsel to the House Ways and Means Committee Republicans, and as a staff director for the Ways and Means’ Health Subcommittee when BBA ’95, HIPAA, and BBA ’97 were enacted.
