WASHINGTON – FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn released the following statement after S. 748, Medicare Sequester Relief Act was introduced today in the Senate:
“The bipartisan bill introduced today by Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Susan Collins (R-ME) would extend a critical lifeline to frontline caregivers that will further protect access to care during this unprecedented health crisis.
“Unless Congress acts by March 31st, all Medicare providers – from those on the front lines of the COVID pandemic to the primary care doctors treating common illnesses – will face an ill-timed 2% cut to Medicare reimbursements.
“We urge Congress to move swiftly and enact this legislation to extend the Medicare sequester moratorium through the duration of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. It is a vital step towards helping ensure hospitals and providers continue to have the needed resources to defeat this virus and make sure all patients have access to the quality care they need and deserve.”
