“A Step Backward for Patient Care” – FAH Opposes Legislative Proposals That Undermine Patient Choice, Reduce Access to Care, and Increase the Cost of Coverage

FAH submitted a statement for the record in advance of the House Education and Workforce Committee markup today underscoring the Federation’s opposition to the Healthy Competition for Better Care Act, the Transparent Telehealth Bills Act, and the CRA Resolution to stop the Biden-Harris rule limiting access to Association Health Plans – all three of which would undermine patient choice, reduce access to care, and increase the cost of coverage.

FAH Executive Vice President of Public Affairs Charlene MacDonald released the following statement regarding the bills:

“The misguided legislative proposals before the Committee are a step backward for patients, undermining choice and limiting access to care. These bills would allow insurers to assert more control over patient care, reduce patients’ ability to access telehealth services, and destabilize insurance markets while driving up the cost of care.”
